QuantCast Quantification

It's kind of a weird request, but is there any way you could throw the QuantCast quant tracking tag into the MML code Joe? I know it's kind of a weird thing, but I spent so long working in a research department and I'm always curious of the demographic information of particular websites.

If anyone doesn't know what it is, QuantCast.com let's you see the demographic information for high trafficked websites, and with a small piece of free code they offer, slow trafficked websites can be quantified too. MML falls into the latter category, and it would be cool to see more information about the overall players on the site, rather than just the total count of unique hits.

Also, if anyone's curious, go to QuantCast.com and look up some sites on there. I get a kick out of comparing some of the drum corps sites (ie DCP, DCI.org, CorpsReps). Maybe some of you will too.

In english please, lol.

lol, ya, sorry, that happens. So say you go to QuantCast and type in Google.com, it will come up information, like "36 percent of visitors to Google.com are between the ages of 18 and 34" and "42 percent of visitors went to college" etc.

Or on DrumCorpsPlanet, my personal favorite statistic is that 16 percent of users are "addicts," and that 16 percent makes up 78 percent of the visits/usage on DCP.

Just a bunch of random facts that are fun to know for some people (like me!). Also, if anyone's ever going into marketing or just doing a research report on any website or any company that has a website, add in these figures and you're teachers/instructors will be blown away!

How does it get the information about age? Was that part of the registration here? I forget. :S

No, the age thing I really don't understand. Some sort of metatag on your computer sends it out, but I'm still not sure how it's derived. They use this tool at Media Shops, trying to understand the demographic information of certain websites so they know who their audience is when they run media campaigns.

Well...the site does ask you for your birth date when you first register. Or when that one update happened.

Is it from the actual computer, or do the accounts tell the QuantCast thingy?

Either way, sounds interesting.

It's from the computer. Even programs like Google track this, so ya, it has nothing to do with the information you input into any site

Interesting. 'kay then. I'm not sure my computer knows how old I am, accurately at least.

I looked on the website... says the data is based both on panel surveys and the tag thing. I also learned MML is number 426325 in most popular websites, and had the most traffic on Jan 19, 2008, and the least on Mar 1. quite interesting.
