Hello, my name is Matthew.
I'm in my 2nd year of marching band at Stoneman Douglas High School under the band director John Rusnak.
I specialize in Colorguard, yet I've never made a Colorguard show, lol.
Go to youtube.com/watch?v=0cvu0yokb6s and watch my band Stoneman Douglas Eagle Regiment of 2007, State Champions of Florida, marching band perform "The Seven Hills of New Rome" by Key Poulan.
If you would like to see the 2008 show, here: youtube.com/watch?v=prxty4nqv7o It's called "In the Shadow of Dragons" also by Key Poulan.
Played trumpet for 5 years, this is my fifth year as of 2008.
Magic of Orlando is my favorite Corp. in 2004.
PLEASE LEAVE "A N Y" COMMENTS YOU WANT!

If You Think It’s Hard Too...
1: Carry 45 LBS of dead weight on one shoulder and stand up straight.
2: Practice in the heat and perform in the snow.
3: Get along with 200 people you really love (no, really).
4: Stand in close proximity to 20 guys hitting drums with everything they've got while bobbing your head like you're into it.
5: Blow until your lungs explode.
6: Wear 80 LBS wool uniforms in the 110 degree heat.
7: Watch your music and the director while exhaling, moving your fingers coordinating that with your tongue, tapping you foot, while continuously listening to other players around you so that you can make one of a thousand adjustments.
8: Learn several foreign languages (some that are even made up).
9. Maintain good posture while holding a horn and running the 100 yard dash (some players occasionally faltering, thus making it the 100 yard hurdles.
10. Ride the yellow dogs while the football team rides the greyhound.
11: Understand the subtle differences between "as loud as possible" and a "just a little bit louder than that".
12: Ask your parents for the money to buy a new horn when they really want to buy you a pig and sign you up for the local chapter of Future Farmers of America.
13: Sell band candy in order to fund your trip to some strange and exotic city (often not so strange amd exotic) and perhaps not so far away, in fact, it may be better to eat the candy and stay at home.
14: Wear those 1930's q-tips we call shakos and chill in pubic.
15: Play Michael Jackson's greatest hits on an oboe.
16: Listen to a bad tuba section - Listen to a good tuba section.
17: Pay more for your instrument then for your car.
18: Wear those monkey suits while your parents make it a Kodak moment.
19: Remember to show up to a performance with all the little things you MIGHT need like white gloves, valve oil, YOUR HORN, you know, the little things...
~~~~~-~-~-~-~-Then you're not tough enough to be in the band!-~-~-~-~-~~~~~
PrAiSe JoE fOr HiS hArD wOrK, tImE, aNd EfFoRt! The picture ALL the way on the right, the left girl is my sister, Michele and the right girl is my other sister, Stephanie. I'm the middle one, the youngest and the tallest! That picture was taken when my band had just finished our show at the semi-finals.
